CHAMP Camp counselors are a diverse group of healthcare professionals and dedicated volunteers who act as both friends and mentors. They listen, play, laugh, and create magical moments, excelling in skills beyond their clinical expertise. Whether composing songs, leading nature hikes, identifying owl calls, cheering on achievements, or baiting a fishing line, they bring joy and inspiration to every camper’s experience.
Our counselors live alongside campers in the cabins, providing round-the-clock care and medical support as needed. With a ratio of 2.5 counselors per camper, we ensure a balance of attentive care and personal freedom, allowing campers to safely explore the outdoors without feeling “smothered” or “hovered over.”
Most counselors are nurses, therapists, physicians, child life specialists, teachers, or recreation professionals. They’re joined by university students pursuing healthcare careers and rehabilitation specialists who offer equipment and technical support, creating a well-rounded, supportive team.
